The process of creating a new piece can be a long one. When I hand carve my designs from wax, it can take me weeks…months even. Sometimes I carve a portion of it and sit and stare at it for a few days before touching it again. That’s the trouble with being a perfectionist, I guess. If I decide I like the carving, I mold it, cast it and then toy around with finishes and textures. Again, sometimes weeks. I’ll get obsessed with finding the perfect chain or whatever and days pass. I’m finally finishing up with these latest pieces I’ve been working on and thought I would share some of the process involved with just one design. Have a look! They should be up on the site soon. After I take the perfect picture, that is.
The final carving in wax.
The ring after it has been molded & shot in injection wax.
5 rings cast in sterling silver.
Now on to filing & finishing the rings….
Right before the polish.
Finally done. Polished.
I love these. I’m thinking of calling the ring the “Neptune”. Yes?
This issue of MN Monthly features an amazing spread of local jewelry. Check out Carrier Pigeon’s pieces along with the work of some incredible local jewelers. Great job ladies! And thanks Katie Dohman for the feature! XOXO

Yes! I have been wanting to have my jewelry at i like you for some time now….and I finally made it happen. Northeast Minneapolis is where I live, work and play and it only seems right to have my jewelry available in my favorite neighborhood. Aside from being one of the best boutiques to shop for unique gifts, it is next to some of my other favorite places….making it a prime location for shopping.
i like you is right next to my pals at Fox Tax, just a few steps from the Red Stag Supper Club and across the street from THE BEST Indian/Nepali/Tibetan restaurant, Gorkha Palace. Seriously, the folks who own this place are the sweetest people around. Love them. And they have, hands down, the best veggie momo EVER! Check out all of these places.
